Hanz Richter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Cleveland State University, where he has been a faculty member since 2004. He was a National Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellow at the NASA John C. Stennis Space Center. His PhD and MSc degrees (2001 and 1997, Oklahoma State University) are in Mechanical Engineering, with concentration in Dynamic Systems and Control. His BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering is from the Catholic University of Peru.
Dr. Richter's interests and experience are in the broad areas of control systems, robotics and mechatronics, with applications to aerospace systems, biomedical robotics and high-precision motion control. His work has been supported by NASA, the National Science Foundation and other organizations. He has published a single-authored book on advanced control of jet engines, which was translated to Chinese. Dr. Richter has published over 60 peer-reviewed journal and conference articles and has presented his work in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa, as well as in the US and Canada. He directs the Control, Robotics and Mechatronics Lab.
